Media Buyer/Planner

Position Summary

Pace, the largest independent content agency in North America, is looking for a Media Buyer/Planner to support the paid media efforts of several high profile national and global brand clients. The Media Buyer/Planner will report to the Associate Media Director and duties will include planning, implementing, optimizing and stewarding multiple clients’ digital advertising efforts, specifically paid social and search marketing, to ensure that campaigns meet KPIs and objectives set forth in the activation plans. Applicant must also be able to research and present relevant insights internally and externally to sell-in programs and report on results at the conclusion of each campaign. This individual has the opportunity to help shape the growth of the agency’s media offerings/capabilities and educate the team.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Participate in development and management of digital media plans and buys under the supervision of the Associate Media Director
  • Develop objectives, strategies, plans and presentations
  • Create and manage media partner RFP process
  • Maintain media plans including changes, budgeting, execution, reporting and optimization
  • Generate and track UTM codes for all clients
  • Coordinate day-to-day paid social media postings with Creative and Client Leadership teams, and implement those postings once approved
  • Develop and execute paid search campaign recommendations and optimizations in Google Adwords and Bing
  • Stay apprised of industry standards, new media programs/opportunities and advise on new ways to reach targets
  • Process media invoices and reconcile discrepancies as required
  • Investigate and utilize information from syndicated research sources
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with media partners
  • Evaluate media opportunities and present media plans and/or POV’s clearly (written and verbal)
  • Analyze web metrics, provide campaign effectiveness reports to clients on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to ensure pacing an optimal delivery of KPIs and recommend optimizations when appropriate to improve media performance
  • Maintain budget reconciliation worksheets for each client

Job Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field

Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in an agency; 3+ years of experience in media planning


  • Excellent understanding of online media planning, implementation and optimizations
  • Passionate and articulate
  • Able to craft a compelling case/recommendation and present it to a client
  • Understanding of how digital fits into the overall client marketing/media strategy
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to relate results to client business objectives, providing a basis for measurement of the digital activities
  • Strong mathematical abilities required
  • Ability to work well in a team structure and independently when needed
  • Detail oriented and proficient at managing projects and able to multi-task, organize, prioritize and structure workload
  • Experience using Facebook’s Ad Manger (Power Editor), Pinterest and LinekedIn’s Ad Platforms, MRI, ComScore, Nielsen NetRatings, Google Analytics, Kenshoo and other media tools a plus
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with digital media invoice reconciliation
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills as well as proven ability to develop well-written documents and presentations
  • Passion for all things digital from podcasts to social networking, niche and B2B sites, online video, gaming, voice activated search, etc.
